    A classic

Edna Lewis's cookbook is a classic. In the fall of 1993, I was fortunate to meet Ms. Lewis at the Madison County Fair in Virginia, close to our respective homes. Having loved this book for decades, I was thrilled to find a new edition (with a forward by Alice Waters!) at your shop. I bought this copy for a close friend in New York who is an exceptional cook (and collector of EF pottery). She was familiar with Ms. Lewis but did not have a copy of her cookbook. Happily ever after!

    One of my fave cookbooks!

Ms. Lewis' cook book reads like a comforting short story. No joke, I keep this one next to my bed and read her recipe intros, I treat them like sweet short stories to be savored. Much like her food, her writing is a special kind of southern comfort. A special snapshot of place, time, and most importantly Black Joy.
